Description
The case refers to Galp´s decision to strengthen significantly its competitive position in the Iberian Peninsula through the acquisition of the operations of Agip and Exxon in 2008. The singularity of the case results from the fact that, as both acquisitions were done almost simultaneously, the process of integration involved three firms with rather different organizational cultures at the same time. The case documents how the integration process was designed and describes the first twelve months of its execution. The case is useful for MBA and Executive Education modules on Mergers & Acquisitions or for sessions within a Corporate Strategy module devoted to Mergers & Acquisitions with a focus on the post-merger integration process.
